Sarah Munster has been designing gardens in Southern California for over 30 years. She now lives and works in the Ojai Valley.
Shaped by the wishes of her clients, Sarah’s designs encompass the attributes and challenges of each site, seeking always for the simplest expression of line and form. By remaining grounded in the essential character of each place – its aspects, views and architectural style – Sarah strives to create quiet spaces.
Transplanted to LA in my twenties I spent many years designing residential gardens, inspired by the wide range of architectural styles that LA has to offer.
Every project is guided by the site itself. My intention is for the gardens I design to mature seamlessly into their surroundings. Such considerations inform both choice of materials and plant selection, whether native to Ojai or from similar climatic zones.
